What is Planned for 2009 at the Ancient Mound?
The SOAG plan for 2009 is to continue the collaboration with Reading University. We have very little survey data outside the Mound, but what we have is potentially interesting. We shall therefore extend the resistivity survey to the whole field, and also undertake a magnetometry survey, again using university equipment and expertise. It is also highly desirable to get some dating evidence for the Mound. Initially we plan to do some auguring in the outer ‘ditch’ in the hope of finding some organic or other material that might be datable.
After these activities whether or not excavation is appropriate is a decision that will be taken in consultation with the county archaeologist and our colleagues from the University.

14 - 18 September 2009 Completion of resistivity
